B19 - How To Check Your Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS)

Tell me how you would know if there was a problem with your anti-lock braking system.

DSA Answer

Warning light should illuminate if there is a fault with the anti lock braking system.

Our Guide To The Driving Test

Explain to the examiner that:

  1. Most modern cars have Anti-lock Breaking Systems (ABS) fitted.

  2. If there is a fault with the ABS then a warning light will show up on the dashboard.

  3. When you power up the car the ABS warning light will always light up for a few seconds to show that the warning light is working.
