Your first lesson:

For your first lesson we recommend a two-hour assessment or introductory lesson. Your lesson will be with a professional and patient driving instructor, and will take place in a new Mini.

Things To Bring

You will need both parts of your provisional licence. And the correct fee for your lesson. Also if you need corrective lenses or glasses please bring those also.

What To Expect

The first thing you can expect is for your instructor to check you have the correct entitlement on your provisional licence. Also that you can read a number plate from 20.5m away, you will be tested slightly further away than that at about 24m to ensure there is room for deterioration.

If you are new to driving you can expect to cover the cockpit drill and controls of the car. The Prepare Observe Manoeuvre routine, which will involve you moving off and stopping. You will also cover the Mirror Signal Manoeuvre routine which should involve you carrying out left and right turns, left and right emerging. Depending on your ability the opportunities to move on further in this lesson are available, so you may cover traffic lights and roundabouts!

If you have had previous experience in driving a car i.e. already took a test or had a few lessons and looking for a change. You can expect a detailed analysis of your driving ability and we will be able to compile an action plan to best suit your needs to enable you to pass your driving test.
